we are herded into the observation room, following
a light snack and fluid hydration. the experiment was
an overwhelming success. one by one, the technicians
load our brain scans into the computer/analyzer. we
are astounded by how accurately the holographic
imagery replicates the episodes we experienced while
in the dream state. i can see myself sleeping in a cave
in Wales, then having an out-of-body experience, as
my spirit soared high above the Welsh countryside -
flying, not falling. we sign waivers of confidentiality,
then collect our stipend for participation. i am
dictating notes into a recorder, so i can eventually
write an account of the adventure. but will anyone
ever really believe it happened unless the results
are made public? only time will tell.
