I am part of the generation who grew up enthralled by ABC's "Wild World Of Sports" program. In addition to the incredible footage of football, car racing, swimming and skiing, I was taken by the marvelously eclectic 'incidental music' which accompanied these events captured on film. I wondered aloud what kind of music would best complement footage of intrepid mountain climbers attempting to scale K2 - second only to Mt. Everest as the steepest mountain on Earth. This piece is what sprang forth.
